  • My Guitar Center Experience Today

I brought in my white RG550 to have the volume knob re-located to the tone knob location (and delete tone knob) and to install a killswitch where the volume knob used to be

I take the guitar out and the guy behind the counter says "wow, I've never seen a lefty JEM before".

    Me =

How do you work in a fucking GUITAR SHOP and not know that a white RG550 with a maple board and reverse headstock isn't a JEM?

    Sorry to hear that!!!

Got a great joint here in Phoenix. People across the country ship guitars to them on a regular basis for repair work.

The owner was telling us one day that they do the local GC's work for them.

I just installed my first kill-switch yesterday ~! Cool

also put in a new 5-way switch, and SSL-5L Bridge, AM STD middle, andf MIJ Alnico neck ,,, and we're rocking, just need to find the pup setup heights and a few other little things, but it's coming along.

I went with a push button "off" killswitch...kinda like buckethead style. Much easier on the guitar than rampant pickup selector madness with the volume on one pickup turned to zero.

Did you go with an arcade button for the kill switch?

Now THAT would be true Buckethead style.

I want to do that to a guitar eventually.

It's easy to do take the wire off the middle lug of your volume pot run it to the post on the switch, run a new wire from the 2nd post back to the middle lug of your volume pot, and Shazam~!

Edit: I really need to learn to do wiring and soldering without ruining every piece of electronics I touch.

I swear I must be the only person on the planet who has had awful luck with these guys. I will never take my guitars back to them.
