so i want to put new pickups in a fender strat.i REALLY want texas pickups but dont have enough $$ to do that so what are some suggestions? i mostly play hard rock-metal stuff
If you want a great metal pickup at the bridge, try a SD Invader. I had one in my standard strat and it was sick. I had a JB at neck, cool rail at middle. When I switched tp the bridge it was instant distortion with my amp at 4. The best part is you don't have to route the bridge area out because the cap screws are wide enough for the string spacing.

- Just go with the real deal from Bill Lawrence (Wilde Pickups as suggested before) - an L-500XL in the bridge, and L-280s in the neck and middle.
The Dimebucker is just a reverse engineered Bill Lawence L-500L++ (the current L-500XL) that Dimebag was using. SD waited for Bill's patent to expire.
Change your first tone control to a master tone for all three pick ups, make your second tone control a Master Q-tone with Bill's q-filter. The Q-tone lowers the inductance of the L-500Xl and you can go from Hot Humbucker to PAF to Single-coil at the bridge.
That set up will do anything except for the P-90 sounds. I have it on a Carvin Bolt Kit and the versatility is incredible.
you should really go on yourtube and check out the original bill lawrence (wilde pickups)
you wont even be asking about anything else
i'm a seymour duncan afficionado, but for the price, quality, and experience of the guy who makes them (he's been making pickups longer than seymour duncan) you'll be sold on bill and betty
