  • Mosrite clone

Just received the first pic from 'my' luthier Eugen Wulff of GunCustoms in Haarlem, The Netherlands.

Eugen who logs in as Oigun, which is how his first name is pronounced, on the guitarboard he and I (and HalfBlindLefty and Bertil and Pieter, leaving anyone out? is Bart on there too?) hang out, built a lefty for a guy that I really liked. I got in touch with Oigun and got him to agree to build me a Mo' clone.
He's posting the build on other forums and I'll be C/P-ing his posts in here.
If you have any questions, I'll relay them to him and get back with his answers.

    this is Oigun posting on Mosriteforum;

Today I started with a new project a lefty mosrite clone for forum member Olav.
I hope you guys can give us some pointers because I'm new to mosrites and never seen the real deal. Olav's girl has a nice aria "moclone" So that and especially the Ed Elliot thread will help a lot.

So I put some alder together

    And routed the template.

Thiknessed the body with my good old safeT planer.1.7" (4.3mm) for starters

    Cheerio!

You and me both Michael. This build has been way overdue... Oigun and I started talking last year October...

I'll update everytime Oigun does. He has a couple other projects too, like this telecaster he's building for a contest on TDPRI, he's calling it the 'koelcaster'.
                    here's a link; http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tdpri-201...oelcaster.html
he did a lefty which I was real impressed with, both looks and playability, that build is here; http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-home...-51-lefty.html
I played it once, just before it was finished and handed over to the new owner. Now if my guitar handles the way that one did... I will most probably cream my pants.

As luck would have it Oigun just updated on mosriteforum

So I routed out the bindingchannel:

                      Fits like a glove.

Routed out the concave in babysteps. I don't want it to go wrong in this stage.

                      Like that:

                        germanized carving smoothed out

                        Pencilled the german border JAWOHL

                        Shapin' time

I think I'm getting close now, so I want to glue in the binding first and than finetune the shape.

Bart, I can't wait to play this thing, it'll be a couple weeks yet. I just got word from M3 of California they need another 3-4 weeks to finish the vibrato tailpiece.
You're most welcome to testdrive this puppy when she's done. (don't forget to bring the maple breezy!)
