    '78 Strat

I bought this one in 1984, it was used by a "lefty righty" player before me, i.e. it was strung right handed and played by a lefty with the low E nearest the floor ... hence the brass nut.

It's fitted with Reflex Reds active pickups with a mid boost and cut pot on the neck pickup tone knob. They sound somewhere between Duncan Live Wires and EMG SAs, with no boost or cut they are fairly thin sounding. They were made in the UK and are no longer in production.

          Thanks guys !

The body is ash and it's a heavy one. This was my very first Strat and for a long time every other Strat was compared to this one. In the late '80s I bought a couple of new Strats, a pewter grey and a red one ,(fiesta red maybe), but they didn't feel anything at all like this one so I only kept them for a couple of months.

They were very light and felt like toys compared to it, some of those '80s Strats were pure junk, in truth so were a lot of the '70s ones, but according to Ebay and a lot of dealers they are worthy of very high prices.

Fender never should have gotten rid of the big headstock, that thing is so full of win

they still have a few strats with it, its just hard to get ahold of a southpaw with it

imo its better, i have both headstocks and i'm all for the cbs one

i definitely like the way all fender headstocks look though, aside from the coronado, that thing is just hideous
