Default BOSS HM-2 Heavy Metal and HM-3 Hyper Metal Pedal

Does anyone have a BOSS HM-2 Heavy Metal or HM-3 Hyper Metal pedal and need some cash?

Mega Distortion is better than the HM pedals IMO.

the HM series is a fuzzy edged distortion, not a tight layered modern scoop style one

I plan to try the Mega Distortion and Metal Core, as well. However, they are inexpensive and ubiquitous so I will probably just put those on my Christmas list.

Oh ... well I bought a Hyper Metal yesterday and put a bid on a Heavy Metal. Maybe this is a mistake, haha. Oh, well. We'll see how it goes! I am not a fan of "classic" metal tones. I am definitely a modern high-gain tone guy. But I'm not a scoop guy. I like a nice big helping of high end and high mids for snarl and grind.

Thanks for your input, guys! This is just a fun little experiment I am doing. I really don't expect any of them to be able to hang with the Metal Zone. Maybe the Metal Core.

The cool thing about the Mega Distortion is it's an overdrive and distortion pedal, so you can max out the overdrive and add just a little distortion to make it not sound like scrambled eggs.

The DOD super american metal is sort of a clone/variation of the HM2

I already did it with the Metal Zone and it sounds absolutely killer. I am just curious to compare the five to each other to see how they differ and see which I like best.

Which is the Overdrive part the GainBoost ? Then just dial up the Dist to taste?

Yeah, gain is what causes overdrive.
